Completing the Outside Activities Report Via My UW Portal


This user procedure provides detailed information and instructions for employees on how to complete their Outside Activities Report (OAR) via My UW Portal.

State law requires that all FA/AS/LI employees with 50% or more appointments file a report of their outside activities on an annual basis to ensure that there are no conflicts of interest while working for the UW System.

Process Considerations:

  • This document is ONLY applicable to UW System Administration, UW-Shared Services,and UW-Extended Campus FA/AS/LI employees with 50% or more appointments.

  1. If required to complete the Outside Activities Report (OAR), you will receive an email explaining the OAR requirement and the deadline for completing it. This message will contain a link to your Portal.
  2. Click on the link provided in the message or navigate to your MyUW System Portal at
  3. Click the Personal Information tile.

  4. Click the Update My Personal Information link.

  5. Select the Outside Activities Report option on the left sidebar.

  6. After reading the top section of the Outside Activities Report form, do ONE of the following:
    1. Click the circle next to “I have read the Guidelines and have Outside Activities to report in sections A, B, and/or C below.” and go to step 7.

    2. Click the circle next to “I have read the Guidelines and do NOT have any remunerative outside activities or associations with organizations in my field of interest to report” and your digital signature and the date and time will automatically appear. Scroll down to the bottom of the form and click Submit for Approval.

  7. Complete section A, B, and/or C to indicate the nature of your outside activities. List each activity you are involved with that fits that section. If you need additional rows, use the + and – buttons at the far right of the existing row to add or delete.

  8. (Optional) If you want to save your work and come back to it before submitting, click Save as Draft.

  9. When you have completed the form, your digital signature and date will automatically appear when you click Submit for Approval.
