Pay Basis Descriptions in HRS

Overview

In HRS, an employee's Pay Basis is the principal condition in terms of time, production or other criteria, along with salary rate, which determines the compensation paid to an employee. You can find an employee's Pay Basis on their HR Job Data record, Job Information tab.

At UW, there are seven types of Pay Bases which are described in the table below.

 Academic

 Academic school year calendar, also known as C-basis

C

 Annual

 Fiscal Year (July 1 - June 30) , also known as A-Basis

A

 Hourly

 Paid for hours worked per pay period in calendar year

 H

 Lump

 Lump sum payment (e.g. fixed dollar amount)

 L

 No Pay Basis

 Non paid appointment

 N

 Summer Service

 Research or Administrative appointment during a summer period; also known as V-Basis

V

 Summer Session

 Teaching appointment during a summer period; also known as S-Basis

S

You can find an employee's Pay Basis from the main Menu in HRS by navigating to: Workforce Administration > Job Information > Job Data; search for employee; click on the Job Information tab.
