Updating Internet Settings to Allow Opening of Attachments and File Downloads to 'Generate' Letter Templates for TAM
Overview
To enable opening of applicant's attachments, such as Resume/CV, cover letters, transcripts, etc., Internet settings may have to be changed on your computer or iPad. Additionally, letters can be enabled within TAM when correspondence is sent to an applicant/candidate. To enable the downloading of these letters an Internet setting may have to be changed on your computer.If one of the following options below does not work, contact your campus IT department for assistance in changing your browser download settings.
Instructions for Internet Explorer 8
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click on the Tools link at the top right hand corner.
3. Choose Internet Options from the Tools menu.
4. Click on the Security tab.
5. Click the Custom Level button.
6. Within the list of Custom Levels, find the Automatic prompting for file downloads and select the Enable radial button.
7. Click OK.
Turn Off Pop Up Blocker in Internet Explorer 8
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools button, then click Internet Options.
3. On the Privacy tab, select or clear the Turn on Pop-Up Blocker checkbox.
4. Click OK.
Enable File Downloads in Internet Explorer 9, 10 and 11
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click on the Tools link at the top right hand corner.
3. Choose Internet Options from the Tools menu.
4. Click on the Security tab.
5. Click the Custom Level button.
6. Within the Downloads section, select the Enable radial button for File Download section.
7. Click OK.
Turn Off Pop Up Blocker in Internet Explorer 9, 10 and 11
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools button in the upper right corner, then click Internet Options.
3. On the Privacy tab, uncheck or clear the Turn on Pop-Up Blocker checkbox.
4. Click OK.
Turn Off Pop Up Blocker ONLY for TAM Attachments in Internet Explorer 9, 10 and 11
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools button in the upper right corner, then click Internet Options.
3. On the Privacy tab, click the Settings box.
4. Enter www.hrs.wisconsin.edu in the Address of website to allow box and click the Add button.
5. Click Close.
6. Click OK.
Turn Off Pop Up Blocker in Firefox
1. Open Firefox.
2. Click on the "hamburger" menu in the top right corner, then click on Options
3. Click on Privacy & Security on the left hand side
4. Scroll down to the Permissions section, and click on the 'Exceptions...' box to the right of 'Block pop-up windows'
5. In the window that opens, type www.hrs.wisconsin.edu in the 'Address of website' box, and click 'Allow'
6. Click 'Save Changes' in the lower right hand corner
Turn Off Pop Up Blocker in Google Chrome
1. Open Google Chrome.
2. Click the ellipses menu icon in the upper right corner of the window. This looks like three vertical dots and is labeled Customize and Control Google Chrome when hovered over.
3. Choose Settings from the menu.
4. Click Privacy and Security on the left.
5. Click the Content settings button.
6. Click Site Settings.
7. Scroll down to Pop-ups and redirects and ensure this is enabled, with the slider next to Allowed appearing blue. It is important to note that this will allow all pop-ups to be shown.

You can also choose to keep pop-ups disabled (Allowed slider is grey) and instead add www.hrs.wisconsin.edu to your list of allowed sites by clicking the Add button next to Allow.
8. Chrome will automatically save your changes.

Turn Off Pop Up Blocker in Safari
1. Open Safari.
2. Select Safari > Preferences, then click Websites.
3. Click Pop-up Windows.
4. In the "When visiting other websites" drop-down, select Allow.
- It is important to note that this will allow all pop-ups to be shown.
- You can also choose to keep pop-ups disabled (Allowed slider is grey) and instead add www.hrs.wisconsin.edu to your list of allowed sites. In this case, select Block next to "When visiting other websites." When access this menu from TAM, the web address should display under Currently Open Websites. Click the drop-down box to select Allow.
Turn Off Pop Up Blocker on ipad (Safari)
1. Click on the Settings icon on your iPad.
2. Select Safari and slide the Block Pop-ups button so it is no longer green.
Note : Even after turning off pop-up blocker on the ipad settings, you may still need to click Allow each time you open an attachment.
