Change an account password using SQL*Plus and SQLcl 

You can use the PASSWORD command from the SQL*Plus and SQLcl utilities. You will be prompted for your current password and the new password.

Type "password" at the SQL prompt to change your password as shown in the example below:

SQL> password

Changing password for MY_USER

Old password: ********

New password: ********

Retype new password: ********

Password changed

Change an account password using SQL Developer

From SQL Developer, do the following.

  1. Right-click on the connection.
  2. Select the "Reset Password..." option from the popup menu.
  3. In the subsequent dialog, enter the current password and the new password with confirmation.
  4. Click the OK button.

Change account password using TOAD 

From TOAD, do the following.

  1. From the top menu, select "Session > Change Password".
  2. In the subsequent dialog, enter the current password and the new password with verification.
  3. Click the OK button.

Change account password using Hyperion Interactive Reporting or Brio

  1. In Query Editor, right-click a blank area of Query Editor, point to Connection, and then click Change Connection.
  2. In the Connect to Database Engine dialog box, provide the new connection information, and then click Connect.

Change account password using Appeon InfoMaker 

  1. Refer to the ‘SQL Plus section’ above – follow those instructions
  2. *** To update the connection settings in Infomaker with your new password:
  3. Select ‘DB Prof’
  4. Select the Connection Name to be changed – Click ‘Edit’
  5. Enter desired values
